Performance Friction Brake Pads
Performance Friction Brake Pads
I need to change the brake pads on my car soon, but I have a few questions. Do the performance friction pads they sell at autozone make noise, wear down fast, wear down the rotor, and cause a lot of brake dust? I searched the site and didn't really get these questions answered. I would like an increase in braking power but don't want a lot of tradeoffs. If anyone has an opinion of a better pad that would be appreciated. I have front disc rear drum setup and I'm planning on replacing all pads and shoes. Thanks in advance.

they make noise when its damp outside, but i think most metallic pads do. yes there is alot of dust, and yes they wear out fast. alteast thats my opinon, but maybe everyone doesnt drive as nascar inspired as myself. they do help stopping though. one thing to remember, the new harder metallic pads that they have now, wear rotors out faster.

Does Autozone sell the Z series ? I know they are pretty hard on rotors but they work great. You may want to consider the ACDelco Durastop performance pads. They work great without excess dust and wear.Let me know if you want the part number.

I run the performance friction Z rated pads. I bought the brake dust shields because the dust was so bad. The Z pads also work very well at high speed. They fade a little in the begining and when they heat up they grab like a bear. This also makes them a little weak for normal driving as they need heat to work properly. I have not ran into anyone yet so I'll live with the slow braking fade.
Is anybody using the Bendix Fleet Tuff? Are they any good?
