Would a 36mm/24mm upgrade be worth it?
Would a 36mm/24mm upgrade be worth it?
Im thinking about buying the sway b ars that are for sale in the classified section. I have a 91 fb with a 305TBI. Im not sure what size sway bars I have, but I'm guessing they arent that great. I rebuilt my front end, and am about to do the rear. Will the sway bars give me a noticable improvement? Thanks

I just did the swap you want to do. The swaybars I used came off an IROC, and were 36mm front / 24mm rear. I also upgraded to polyurethane sway bar bushings and endlinks at the same time, as well as the Wonderbar. As far as I know, Guldstrand Engineering is the only place that sells poly bushings for the 36mm bar (only place I could find em). The 36mm part number is G01-109Q, they dont list the 24mm part #, but they have em. They cost $20 a set, for a total of 40 bucks. The difference in handling was very noticable. MUCH less body roll for tighter, more controlled turns.

I agree. I just returned from some canyon carving in the mountains, the upgrade is pretty darned cool. Should you be interested in a set of 1LE/WS6 type hollow 36 mm and solid 24 mm bars, please see my ad in the classifieds.
