Brakes on a GTA

I'm not sure if this is a common problem with F-Bodies.

Why is it that it takes me forever to stop at any speed when I brake gradually? It's like it takes me about twice the distance to stop safely, as opposed to a car with ABS, using the same braking method. I don't slam the brakes, because when I do, a significant amount of gas becomes used.

I originally thought that perhaps this was just the laws of physics playing games with the floater inside the fuel tank, but I noticed that, after I started going, the available fuel had decreased a notch. Coincidence? I'm not sure.

I recently had my front brake pads replaced, that didn't fix the problem. I guess that's kind of a "duh, of course that won't work" thing, since the car is RWD.

Is there a way a more efficient braking system can be implemented into a third gen? Perhaps ABS, even? Or what about 1LE? Is that a more third-gen compatible brake option that has features similar to ABS? And is this the reason why they're in such short supply?

Thanks.

i have the exact same problems except with the fuel, i gain fuel when i move from a stop, and loose fuel when im AT a stop. on the guage that is. but as far as the brakes go, mine feel like NON power brakes, and if basicaly have to stand on the brakes to stop sometimes, but anyways. im going to try to put on new calipers and rotors, do u have the two piston or the single calipers. cause i think that makes a BIG difference. but i would try upgrading to at least two pistons calipers, should fix alot.

Something is wrong with your fuel gage or the sender in the tank. The only way heavy braking will use extra fuel is if you have a hole in the front of the tank that it is sloshing out of, and the fuel sytem is sealed ( that "whoosh" when you open the gas cap ), so it wouldn't run right if that were the case.

88 IROC with cobbled together (not by me)drivetrain, 86 (?) TPI unit,CE subframe connectors, Edelbrock strut tower brace, polygraphite bushings all around...it handles like a dream, but man is it hard to push!!
