picking out new (used?) springs...

I NEED new springs, but I've never picked any out before. I know very little of aftermarket springs so I am torn between finding some or just picking out some used IROC or Z28 springs. Also, if used is the best option, how can you tell the difference between springs that are shot and those that are still good? All of my suspension is stock right now and I'm looking to upgrade (SFC's and/or LCA's, stuts, shocks) in small affordable increments because the handling has really lost it's edge. Any input (like what order to do first) would be appreciated.

I don't know how you'd check. Hmmmm...I guess I'd check the miles on the vehicle(less is better obviously), and maybe push down on the car and see how it reacted as compared to yours. Other than that...I dunno.

Well, springs wear out with age, I guess you figured that out already..... So you'll be better off to get new springs, I got a set for my IROC a couple years ago from NAPA for I think $120 or so...... Brand new, MOOG...... Also the INTRAX lowering springs are available for around that price if you shop around....
