Squeaky shock

My front drivers side shock likes to squeak a lot now. Is it going bad? The previous owner said they were new so they shouldnt be more than a year old. What should I do? its really an annoying squeak.

Strut not shock. Probably not the strut making the noise, check the control arm bushings and grease everything really good.

I had this problem. It was the rear shock though. I couldnt figure out what was squeaking out the back. So after a bit of investigating (bushes etc..) I checked the top bolts for the shocks, and one was completely lose, causing it to squeak! Tightened it up, and no more squeak! Maybe check the bolts first, cant hurt..

if anything squeeks replace it don't grease it, that might make the noise go away for a while but the problem remains.

Grease it to find out what part is causing the problem. Of course replace it if needed.
