Need new brakes pads for 1LE system, help!
I installed a 1LE upgrade brake system (12" rotors & dual piston calipers) on my '87 IROCZ. The pads that came with the kit seem to be very hard and do not stop the car well. Right now the new 1LE system does not stop the car as well as the stock factory system (10-1/2" rotors, single piston caliper).
Where can I purchase 1LE brake pads, what brand will stop the car?
What do I ask for? (I dont know what to ask for because the brakes are not factory. I called AutoZone and they only show one brake pad style for my car but in three different warranties.)
I dont care about dusting. It has been my experience that no dusting pads do not stop the car, this type is ususally called life time warranty pads. I dont want this type.

I know Hawk brakes make some pads for them, hence my post... I have durastops on mine and they just don't seem very good.

Hey Doc, have you "bedded" the brakes in yet? Members AndyZ28 and ws6transam both said they had to do a number of "panic stops" to get the pads to set in right. This involved a lot of smoke off the fronts, too. Try that. Andy described how he did his in the 1LE topic section, I'll bet you could od a search and find it. Hope the info helps..good luck.

FYI, when buying pads for the 1LE brakes ask for fronts with the performance handling package for a 1990-1992 Z. There are many pads to chose from with the performance friction being a favorite around here. Good luck and here's to draining your sinus braking.

Thanks for all of the replies.
I finally figured out that I had to tell the part store that I have an '89 Camaro with the high performance braking system. They have no clue what the 1LE system means.
Above '90 to '92 was specified. I bought pads for the '89 HP braking system. I believe that they are the same.
