Dropping some weight

I was recently told that a pair of aluminum heads is about 50lbs lighter then a pair of iron.

Assuming this is somewhat correct, would the change in handeling be noticable? Anyone switch from iron to aluminum who noticed a difference?

Im researching heads, and am trying to justify the price difference between aluminum and iron.

Thanks
Nick

Re: Dropping some weight

i guess it all depends on what ELSE your gonna drop. i would not think 50lbs would make a noticeable change.(as much as taking the toolbox out the hatch) IIRC every 100 lbs of weight you drop its like adding one HP. i think that 50lbs mixed with other weight saving mods would certainly help not hurt you......but you aint lyin. aluminum heads are not on the cheap side.

Re: Dropping some weight

Well the car is going to be for rallycross/stage rally. So its going to be gutted, full cage, 2 seats, the bare minimum you know. So i guess dropping 50 lbs isnt going to make a big difference one the cage goes in...
