loose steering
Before I bought my car in July I had it inspected and a problem with the steering was that the idler arm had marginal wear. The steering since then has been getting worse.
I needed new tires so I just got those and it didnt make the steering any tighter. The car still wonders on the road. I've adjusted the steering box and it didnt seem to get any better. There is also a slight knock in the steering wheel at the very top of the crest.
I was told I need an alignment also. What kind of setup should I ask for? Just factory specs?
I'm going to be taking this into a shop because of the circumstances with college being extremely busy. Is there anything I should check before I take it into the shop? Thanks a lot guys.

just get stock specs. an idler arm is a pretty simple fix, takes maybe an hour of time. A shop will RIP YOU OFF on this. I got an estimate while I was having my alignment checked and it was like $40 for the arm and $120 for the labor. hmmm, kinda high. Do it yourself, but have someone there to hold a wrench on the other side of the bolt. takes about an hour. you may want to replace your tie rods while you're working on the steering linkage. get those talen care of and the car will be nice and tight.
