Need Some Tire Advise

I have an 87 Formula with 16x8 inch rims. The car calls for 245/50/16's with a V speed rating. I have a few questions:

Is anyone running a larger size than this on there 16x8 inch rim? What is the max ic can put on it 255/265/275? Also, I'm kinda on a budget. In other words, I'd be willing to spend the money but want to see if anyone knows of some good deals on preferably Z rated tires.

Do you know of any manufacturer that sells Z rated 255 or 265/45/16's?

Any help would be greatly apreciated.

I know a lot of guys put 255s on their rear wheels and I know BFG sells Radial T/As really cheap, but I don't think they're Z rated. (Why do you need Z-rated, are you hitting 150 mph frequently or something?) 265 on an 8" wide rim is possible, I believe, and the tire places'll do it, but I don't think they really recommend it. I'd go with 245s in front and 255s in the back, myself with an H-speed rating (cheaper and more than I'll ever need).

I've got an 89 Formula with the factory wheels also. It had worn-out P255/50ZR16 BFG Comp T/As on all four corners when I bought it (and the fronts still rubbed). The Comp T/A is still available but old tech and I wanted to try the new BFG G-Force KDW. Unfortunately, they only make the P245/50ZR16 and not the P255 in the KDW. I bought the P245s for front and rear. I'm sure there are other P255s out there (search Tirerack.com). A word of warning though. Check the actual dimensions of every tire you are considering if you want something that is wide. All tires of the same P-metric size are NOT the same dimensions. As an example, I also have a set of P255/50ZR16 Michelin Pilot Sports and they are no wider (maybe even narrower) than my P245 G-Force KDWs.

ive asked this same question, dont go any higher than 255. I run 245 on the front and 255 on the rear. Its a nice setup and a lot people run it, not sure why we dont all just put 255 all around though

225/45/16 in front and 245/45/16 in the back. I needed the extra clearence so it doesnt rub, plus is looks reallly cool! BTW, they are Kumho Ecsta's. $375 for all 4 tires off tire rack.

I have the 16x8 factory wheels with Falcon GRB 245-45ZR16's.Been really happy with the way these tires handle and they're actually even better in the wet than others I've had.About $125 apiece at Wheel Works.
Gonna go to 255-50ZR16s in the rear as soon as I install the 3.73 rear.
