The frontend of my Firebird is lower to the ground than the backend. It's not too noticable, but it makes the front look extra pointy, and the tires scrape when I'm turning and going backwards (???).

What could be the cause of this - shocks , springs? I wanna find out before I spend a bunch of money thinking I'm getting it fixed. =)

The struts (shocks) do not support the weight of the car or control ride height. They just dampen (slow & control) suspension movement.
I would suspect sagging front springs. I have even seen a few cars, including an '83 TA that had broken coil springs. The TA had both front springs broken on the end that sits on the A arm. The broke off parts were about half a coil or so and were stuck in rust and sand around the spring perch in the A arm.

How much do new springs cost? I might as well get the shocks too... it's kind of a bumpy ride. Oh well, can't beat $750 for a running '85 with only 75k on it and no body damage.
