Lowering - do we really need the PHB and LCAs?
I'm new to these cars and looking into lowering my ride 1 to 1.2 inches all around. Nothing huge, just close the gap in the wheel wheels some and get it a nicer stance. I want to do it right, though, and not harm the car or cause irreversible harm/modifications.
Everything I read says do the following: springs, adjustable panhard bar, and LCAs.
My dad had a 91 and he simply cut the springs, later replacing them with Eibachs. No PHB, no LCAs, and it was aligned just fine. The car had about a 1.2 to 1.4 inch drop all around with no adverse effects on the geometry of the suspension or performance.
Are the LCAs and Panhard bar really necessary? I was looking at just getting Eibachs (pro-kit 1") and an adjustable panhard bar, but I'm curious as to how necessary the bar really is (and the LCAs).
And since I'm in there, should I do shocks/struts? Will they affect ride-height?

no, you dont necessarily need any of those things, but you may need a adjustable panhard depending on where the axle ends up, side to side, when you are finished. the lca's wont be a problem.
if the shocks and struts are old and shot, this is a good time to change them. Shocks and struts have no affect on static ride height.

They are not necessary, especially with how low milage your car is and your mild drop. Make sure that it is aligned afterwards...

LCA's no. PHB maybe - like mentioned depends on where your wheels end up after the lowering. IIRC, the pass wheel will stick out farther after lowering (driver wheel sticks in farther), and the adj PHB is used to adjust the rear axle back to center. Doesn't even hurt anything for it to be off center, just looks funny - they will still track straight.

not to hijack but when doing struts do you just fold down the rear seats and lift up the rear carpet or do you need to do something special to get at the top nuts? also what is the length of the stock PHB?

Founders Performance has a phb, lca kit for cheap.
