So I'm rebuilding the suspension (KYB GR2, Moog) and steering system (Moog, Edlebrock, Energy Performance), and I'm adding a wonderbar as well, which leaves me with something else to think about...sway bars. Now, mine are still stock, but I've been looking at my options for upgrading such as Spohn, Hawks Third Gen, and ebay. What's killing me is the pricing since I'm on a tight budget and I'm kinda buying bit by bit. I'd love to hear some feedback.

Wait til you get the springs in. Depending on which ones you used, you may find that what's already there, is completely satisfactory. Only takes about 90 seconds per end of the car to change em, if you'r slow like me and stop for a cold one one after every single bolt besides, so why fret over it until you know where you are so you can figure out from there where you want to go.

 

Ebay, or the boards here sound like your best bet. Check any junkyards near you as well, especially the places where you pull your own parts. The last sway bar I bought from a U-pull yard cost me all of $13!

I'm sure the nice new ones from Hawks and the other places work great, but the OEM pieces don't wear out so they are still fine even it they are from an 82. I'm currently running a 36/24 combo I picked up from the local junkyards and together they cost me less than $50.

And Sofa's right - they are very easy to change out and the size bar you need depends on the springs you are using.

 

Hey thanks for the info guys. Still learning all I can about my car, especially how easy something like this is to do it myself rather than take it to a shop and get charged $$. My 'Bird is a base, and ideally I'd like to convert it to Trans Am specs.
