Re: power steering switch

The electrical connector on the P/S system is a sensor that tells the ECM that there's 'force' being applied to the P/S, thus the pump is using 'power' from the belt system, which can lower the engine RPM - so that sensor is so the ECM knows and can adjust engine idle up a tad to compensate. The A/C system kinda does the same - the ECM will adjust idle up a tad to compensate. So it won't hurt anything to run with it not connected, as long as your car doesn't die on you during a hard turn.

Re: power steering switch

If the new harness didn't come with one, I wouldn't worry about it. That sensor was needed to help the lower power engines cope with the stress of the power steering pump. I don't even have the provision to do it on my LT1 and its fine.
