Steering angle mods- Drifting
Steering angle mods- Drifting
It seems like its been a while since anyone has talked about steering mods for drifting so I'm hoping someone now has found a good steering gear box with enough degrees of travel to drift. Last I saw talked about was ss monte carlo boxes and 98 jeep grand cherokee boxes. Is there anything that anyone has found out to be better since those two were brought up a couple years ago?

just bought a new gearbox for mine hoping that the steering would not be so sloppy anymore but the real issue was the frame has too much give. when you have the chance you need to look at your gearbox and have someone turn the steering wheel. the frame fatigues and eventually starts to crack even with the wonderbar and the braces to the k member. doing some searching i found this for jeeps with the same problem. we need something like it for third gens to stiffen up this problem area.

Stop looking to the steering box for extra throw, to realistically increase your angle you'll need to have the spindles modified to move the point where the tie rod ends connects to it, closer to the spindle shaft, preferribly a machined chunk that will bolt into the stock link hole, and then straddle the spindle at a point closer inboard, and then welded on.

just throwing it out there. Granted its with a AGR box so who knows where the internal stops are set, if at all, but i only have 8" wheels in the front, 4.5" of BS, and without steering stops on the a-arms, the tires will touch the frame when turned all the way. you cant get more angle than that. so maybe look into removing the stop of shortening it to get more angle if needed?

Your tires are probably bulging out past the wheel, plus there is always the possibility of a wheel with less backspace.
