Spindle and ball joint question

When reinstalling the spindle onto the ball joint should I use an impact to fully seat the spindle onto the ball joint, then loosen the nut and torque Or just torque the nut and that's it? Thanks.

If your wanting it to be correctly torqued just tighten it by hand then torque.

and keep in mind that torqued, and still being able to put the cotter pin in, are 2 different things.

yup I meant to say that too. torque specs dont matter much if you cant get a cotter pin through it
