Im looking to lower the front of my car to compensate for cutting weight, has anyone tried 4 cyl springs in a v8 car?
I ran V6 springs in my BBC car for a few years.

Cutting your springs or getting actual lowering springs would be a better option imo.

get moog springs and cut em..best way to go IMO..

Softer springs will lower ride height but will also increase body roll and brake dive. I can see why Alky would run soft front springs on his dragster to increase weight transfer off the line. But on the street, or on the road course you want stiffer springs for better control.

exactly ^^ moog springs
756# spring rate
756# spring rateits for mild street mostly drag use prob going to go with the lighter springs
alky how high did it sit with the v6 springs? did you get the hd or standard v6 springs?
I just went to the junkyard and found third gen springs that had a smaller wire diameter than my IROC springs had. The car just happened to be a V6. I don't think it sat any higher or lower than normal. The weight on my front tires is almost the same as a typical third gen production car.
I just needed a spring that was a lot softer so that the suspension would travel more. The IROC springs are so stiff that the car wouldn't bounce.
I now use Moroso BBC Trick Springs but probably could use the SBC springs. I don't think the front of the car sits any higher or lower than normal with the BBC springs but the Trick Springs work much better on the dragstrip.
The weight on my front tires is around 1700 pounds.

Alky, is your big block aluminum or cast iron? Mikey, are you sure Moog springs are 750# per inch? Eibach Sportlines are 650# per inch and they are extremely stiff. I believe the factory IROC springs were 550# per inch. I know the Eibachs when compared to stock are noticably higher coil count and the wire is thicker.

yessir..they are 756# springs and since they arent progressive rates (like the eibachs) there even stiffer because i cut a coil and a half
My BBC uses a Dart Big M block which is heavier than a production block. The bare block is 260 pounds. I use aluminum heads which cuts 60-70 pounds off the engine. The tunnel ram is heavier than a single 4 bbl. Fuel cell is mounted up front.
My car is gutted. No factory bumper, no heater, wipers etc under the hood. Tubular k-member and a-arms. Lightweight drag brakes. Tiny rad and fan.
When you consider how much weight I've removed compared to how much was added with a BBC, it just about equals out to the original front weight.
