Clunking Back End

my 91 RS occasionally clunks when I take a corner or hit a bump. I also noticed that when my car is sitting still on a flat surface I can push on the quarter panel and the body of the car can move back and forth but the rear axle stays in the same place. What would do this? I there a panhard bar bushing or something thats gone bad?

exactly! the first thing i would check is the bushing, bolt on the panhard bar! i experienced the same issue after i had the ring and pinion swaped. they never tightened it. i figured it was play in the axle, turns out it was a free simple fix just tightened it up and good as new. car felt like it was floating while driving over dips and bumps.

Yeah, check the panhard bar, bushings and mount brackets.

Re: Clunking Back End

Hey 91camarolover. Agree, it sounds like a potential bad bushing or loose bolts.

The stock Panhard on these cars is a weak link even when everything is tight. An aftermarket Panhard is one of the first and best upgrades you can do.

Give us a call if you need tech help.

Have a good weekend.
