polygraphite bushings

I was just wondering what lube to use with polygraphite bushings. Also are all black poly bushings graphite and all red poly bushings urathane???

Re: polygraphite bushings

Silicone based anything will work but the super sticky Prothane or Energy brand stuff is the best I've seen. It's super sticky and stays put for a lot longer it seems, have to buy it at a speed shop or online though, parts stores never have it that I've seen.

If you're going polygraphite it should be ok with anything silicone based though, they stay lubricated by themselves, hence the graphite they impregnate into the poly. The initial lube upon installation is all they will ever need.

Poly bushings (urethane alone) are the ones that tend to squeak a lot. They are VERY important to lube properly unless you want to sound like an old pickup. They also tend to bind up badly when not lubed correctly.

Re: polygraphite bushings

No, but all polygraphite bushings are black that I've seen. I suppose it's possible to make them another color but I've never seen them different.

Polyurethane you'll see in black or red.

Regular old ubber is black also, but not shiny like urethane or graphite.
