Ground control weight jacks question

I just want to know,on the gc site it asked what type of shocks you are using (bilistein,KYB,etc.) do you have to use one of these brand shocks/struts to run the ground control set up? Or is it just reccomended? Basically can I use stock shocks with the ground control set up for now untill I order some bilisteins or something

They ask so they can suggest or spec proper.springs. some shocks can.control much stiffer springs than others

Ahh I see do you know what the closest to stock shocks would be? Since mine are brand new I'd hate to have to replace them already just for gc

Re: Ground control weight jacks question

/you won't HAVE to change your shocks & struts. But if you are looking to go for something like pure race, say 1000+ front/200+ rear then it would be strongly suggested that you do, that gain proper control of your suspension.

I have KYBs & GCWJ on my dd, but I'm also running just 650/150 springs. Easily controlled weights for the KYBs.

Im not looking for something "pure race" because it's still my daily, would I be okay with 650/150 with stock shocks for at least a little while?

650/150 is not that far off the stock rates so I think you'd be fine. Mine are that low because I found my set used & what it came with. And despite having stiffer rear springs available (i have 3 sets of rear springs total), I haven't felt any need to get under my car & put them in.

Re: Ground control weight jacks question

Blackenedbird, I have already purchased Moog 5662/5665 springs for my car and was wondering if I could use these springs w/weight jacks, or do you need to get srings with them?

I had heard of these but until I actually saw them did not understand what they were or how they worked. Now, I think it's the greatest thing since sliced bread for suspenions.

Yeah.....Too tall because of where the weight jacks set & how they work. You could cut them & still reuse them, but then the spring goes up (not sure how to figure out just how much) then you could reuse the springs.

Re: Ground control weight jacks question

In another tread that I read stated that the 5665 went from 107# to 110# with half coil cut. Really just depends on spring height needed for weight jacks, I guess. Thanks

Just saw this pic & it shows the spring height difference good.

After putting in gc how much of a difference did you feel compared to stock in handling with those springs?

Pretty much no change to the ride quality (stiffness is so slight, you wouldn't notice it) from the stock WS6 suspension springs. Mine aren't that drastically stiffer than stock (daily driver) & I don't exactly push it all that hard anyways on the street.

What spring rates would you recommend for a daily driver but I want it just a little bit stiffer then stock but still streetable dd

Re: Ground control weight jacks question

BlackenedBird, How did using these on the front affect the alinement? Do you need to have to change caster plates?

I checked out pics of your Bird vert, and like the ride height and the vette wheels on your car..it's very close to what I had in mind.
