Spacers to move calipers further away from rotors?

Car: 1992 z28 g92 car
Engine: l98 350
Transmission: 700r4
Axle/Gears: 10 bolt posi 3.23 gears
Spacers to move calipers further away from rotors?

I have a 92 g92 car and its got disk brakes the rotor was so close to the caliper that i couldnt see light between them so a fabricated a spacer in my shop manual it shows spacers and theres one from the factory on the other side has any had this problem ?

The factory used shims of varying thickness to center the rotor within the caliper carrier.
