Lowering rear/ required mods
Lowering rear/ required mods
I'm installing a 2001 posi/disc housing in my car as soon as finish getting it cleaned up and painted. I've got a set of Eibach Pro-Kit rear springs I'm going to use.
My question is, how low can you go without needing to modify the rest of the components on the rear such as an adjustable PHB, LCARBs, adjustable control arms, etc? Is any amount of lowering enough to require additional work to correct geometry back there?
Thanks.

all you may "need" is a adjustable panhard, and thats only if the rear is greatly off center when you are done. the rest are not needed at all for a prokit, dont let people tell you otherwise, but LCARB's are more for straight line traction, unless the car is literally sitting on the ground.
new shocks at this time will be a good idea though

Re: Lowering rear/ required mods
In all reality, even a bone stock 3rd gen "needs" an APHB. Being lowered practically demands one being installed.
I say that because if you actually measure, you will usually find that the rearend is shifted to the drivers even on stock cars.
Technically you can go as low as you want without modifying anything but that depends on our goals for the car.

I didn't take any measurements, but right now I went out to take a look at the rear and how its currently centered. There is definitely more wheel biased toward the passenger side, and everything is factory as far as I know.
