Ooooppps !!!! My Rear Bottomed out!!!!!

Recently the rear suspension bottomed out while I was hauling some extra weight that I had put across the rear storage area (80 pounds) and of course the tools I had in there as well (Another 80 or more). This is my daily driver 92 RS Camaro. Bottomed out well enough to break both rotton bump stops. So the problem is now my car will bottom out without any weight in the rear area and also developed a shake when letting out the clutch that wasnt there before. I have picked up new bump stops and will install those tomorrow. What else do I need to fix. If you do the old push down est on the rear of the car it does not bounce around.

Yep...Sounds like a broken or just severely sagging worn spring if it is still bottoming out with zero extra weight. Of course....Carrying 190lbs in the back didn't exactly help either.

But I gotta ask.....Bottoming out with zero extra weight? Bottoming out when? Pushing by hand? Do 80mph across railroad tracks & speed bumps?

Re: Ooooppps !!!! My Rear Bottomed out!!!!!

It likes do bottom out on small dips in the road. I have two that I drive over daily and if I dont hang to the left lane where the dips are it will bottom out. Thing is it dont sag and dont look like its broke. Guess I will pick up some springs and may as well get some shocks too as my VA inspection is coming up next month. Thanks guys.

Broken springs *should* be easy to spot if you crawl under the car.

With the issue with the dips, it definitely sounds like you're in need of shocks as well.
