ball joint movement
Hi I was checking brakes due to clanking noise while driving and checked found the inner pad was a bit loose, but when I apply brake it isn't and moves out to rotor and stops it.
When I held the caliper tight to check for movement it was tight and the ball joint had a bit of play and made a noise. I added grease and there was no more movement and noise was almost completely gone.
I don't believe it is normal for there to be movement grease or not, correct?
Not sure if they have ever been done car has just over 100 000 miles
And what would make the inner pad have play? Caliper moves fine.
Thanks in advance

Re: ball joint movement
The balljoint is shot, replace them on both sides.
The pad should not be loose either, it could be worn, or the rattle clips between it and the caliper are worn or missing. Check that out, and since its apart, see if the rotors and pads are good or worn and replace as needed
