power steering bracket

Can anyone tell me why this power steering bracket has a threaded bolt on the end that attaches to the block. Am I supposed to bolt that straight to the block? needless to say I have having issues getting this power steering pump attached to the motor.

Re: power steering bracket

If it's threaded on the bracket, it would probably be a pivot point, not something that bolts to the block. If it bolted to the block, the hole would be smooth.

That said, it almost looks like the whole bracket needs to move inward laterally (towards the passenger side) but it's really tough to tell from the pics (and I don't know that setup well).
