Rust on spindle

Rust on spindle

Rotor was removed and spindles were left out open all winter. Looks like surface rust on taper end of spindle. will there be any issues with cleaning them with a pad or are they junk?

I've used emery cloth to good advantage. Light surface rust shouldn't be an issue.
