This is my first time to do anything more than replace some shocks and am looking for some input. I've got an '89 Formula 350 (just rebuilt) with a 700R4 tranny. Car is mostly stock otherwise. This will be a street only weekend driver for the most part and all I'm looking to get out of the suspension is a good handling driver, with a firm, but not harsh ride.
I've already got (from previous owner) on the car:
- SFC
- New KYB struts and shocks
- New sway bar and end link poly bushings (front and rear)
- New G-Force 16" tires
I know I need to replace the following:
- Springs front and rear (I plan to use Eibach Pro Kit)
- Center link (will use Moog)
- Idler arm (will use Moog)
My mechanic says the ball joints and tie rod ends are good.
My only complaint other than stuff just being old and worn out is that I feel every crack in the road. I know these cars never rode like a Cadillac (and I wouldn't want that), but I don't remember feeling every crack in the road back when these cars were knew.
All that being said (sorry for being long winded) what else should I replace while I'm at it and will it address feeling the cracks in the road? I'm going to try to do all of this myself (with help from a friend or 2). Any input will be appreciated.
Thanks,
Chris

The new shocks and struts will help. Subframe connectors will eliminate a lot of the squeeks and rattles.
My bad 86ta, the stuff I already have was installed by the previous owner. They have very few miles on them. I'm just finishing the job.
These cars handle and ride very well stock so you don't need a lot of modification/upgrade. I think you'll like the eibach pro kit. Maybe some new rubber spring insulators while your in there or try some hose over the top coil. Bigger swaybars would be good depending on what size you have now. Check all your bushings, front and rear lower control arms, panhard bar. As old as they are, some new moog rubber bushings might be just what the doctor ordered. Since you want to maintain as nice a ride as possible stick with rubber.
