moog 5662 springs

Just picked up my moog 5662 springs today and they're a lot shorter than stock by a good 3 inches. Just curious if this is typical. I was expecting to cut a coil off of them before install but now I don't think I will.

Re: moog 5662 springs

Yup; they are ALOT shorter than stock ones.

THIMK: your stock ones are weeeeeek; takes relatively few pounds of force to compress them relatively a lot. Your new ones are strong: many pounds of force will compress them only a little. Thus, by the time you install them in your car and put the 2000 lbs or so of force on them that they are permitted to enjoy, your stockers will compress like 5", but your new ones will compress like 2", and will end up at about the same height.

Don't cut them until you know what they do. Kinda hard to put a coil back on.

Re: moog 5662 springs

My ride height with old original springs.
LF 26.8 RF 27.75

My ride height with new Moog 5662 (non-cut)
LF 27.3 RF 27.5

I still scrape the air dam enough. No need to cut them.
