Cracks near the Steering Gear?

Ok after removing my steering gear for a rebuild due to a leak no problems, i have noticed there is effing cracks in the mounting where it bolts to body. Whats the deal with this, can i just go ahead and weld it up, i can weld and do the repair myself but just wanna know if this is a MAJOR issue or what.

Call it sorta a blessing you removed before it broke off, it's common issue though, Do a search on how to repair it, you'll be fine,

Wonder bar is supposed to help prevent that. You can buy used stock, after-market, or weld your own.
