Hey guys. I've been babying the poor 7.625" 10 bolt with the turbo / manual setup for a bit too long. It's been quite awhile since I've done any research on the 9" bolt-in setups. Let me know what you have and how it's treated you. This car will be launching off the 2-step with boost and slicks.

I have always found the difference between the 10 Bolt Ring and Pinion and the 9" fascinating.

Here's some eye candy. = http://www.strangeengineering.net/

Sorry, I cant help more, I'm still running a 10 Bolt Upgrade.

Upgrading the rear will come down to what you want to pay and what options youre looking for in a rear.

As it stands now, it looks like youre two options are a drop in 9" or a drop in 12 bolt. Have you looked into what vendors out there can do for your needs? Custom lengths, custom suspension setups etc. Upgrading the rear on these car is a big investment when you do it right BUT in my option, its worth it. Nothing worse then having to do it more than once.

I shattered the 10 bolt in my 97 WS6 at about the 1000' mark at a dragstrip down in Jacksonville NC and it was the scariest thing. It could have been a LOT worse but luckily, the teeth on the pinion gear just broke free and didnt lock the tires up on me. Towing that car home to Mass. was NOT cheap!!!!!!!!!!

Yep, I broke two 7.625" rears running 11.40's with a 1.60s 60' time.

I then went with a Moser ford 9" housing and 31 spline axle package for $1,000.
Ford iron third member rebuilt with timkin bearings, Motive 3.89 gear set, nascar take out detroit locker for $735 shipped from Valley custom diff in Valley springs, CA.
Second gen F body drum brakes, ES poly uni sway bar endlinks and bushings.

Now running 10.60s and don't worry one bit about the rear breaking on me.

I recommend calling Carl @CRP. I called him and asked him a million questions and he was very helpful! His customer service is beyond anyone else's!! I wound up with a fully loaded S60 powder coated to my door for $2900. Let me know an I'll give you his number or you can Google it.

If you have the time and some fab skills a ford 8.8 is feasible. I think Black bird has a decent thread on it and there are various internet sites detailing how you can connect an 8.8 and ten bolt
