Front spring issues CLUNK

So i started rebuilding the front end of my 1992 RS 5.0l, 700r4 AC.
i purchased Moog 5662 and installed
First time over a speed bump and both springs got knocked out of their upper perch (in the stock k-member).
Both springs we're about 1in out of the pocket and we're clunking very bad.
I removed them and tried again
i placed the flat end of the spring up(with stock rubber pad) and aligned the other end so it covered 1 hole on the a-arm.

And again the spring popped out.
I reinstalled the stock spring so I could drive it
I noticed the stock spring is a good 2in taller and has thinner coils.

What am I doing wrong here?

Re: Front spring issues CLUNK

It sounds like you are not getting the top of the spring set in its perch before compressing it. Once its in the perch its impossible for it to move with the cars weight on it. Try again and make sure its seated properly and completely.

As for the two springs, the springs can vary is physical appearance due to the manufacture, rate of the spring, ride height desired ect

I made sure the springs were seated in the top Grove the 2nd one around.
the 5610 springs are 2in taller than the 5662 and are far softer.

should I just get the Moog 5610 springs?
