Anti theft Lugnuts
Anti theft Lugnuts
My 89 rs got a flat, and i tried to take the tire off and i noticed it gots those stupid anti theft lugnuts on them. Naturally i bought the car used, and they key has long been lost.
Anyone know a good way to get these stupid things off?

... it's best to use an impact socket. Sometimes those regular sockets will split.
Like he said, just hammer it on and then use the wrench to remove.

I lost the key to mine once, OK more than once. I had a shop weld on a regular lug nut then we removed it no problem. I made a little shield out of a large coffee can lid to surround the lug nut protecting the rims during the welding. I didn't have success with driving a smaller socket onto the locking lug nut. Order a new set of locking lug nuts from the dealer and always keep track of where the key is. The key and lug nut set comes in a plastic bag with instructions and a key number on a card. Look around you may get lucky and find a portion of the card is attached behind the spare tire cover. If you have the key number you can order a new set of keys. Good luck, Lon.

There's an easier way... it might work, unless your lugnuts were overtorqued by the previous owner...
Put the other 4 lugnuts back on, and tighten the hell out of 'em. Right now, with "just" the locker on there, it's got a lot of pressure on it. If you put the other 4 back on, they'll take the pressure off. Then you might be able to use large channel-lock pliers to twist the locker off.
It worked for me on the side of a road in the middle of nowhere when my key stripped out. Don't ever buy a Rally locking lug set. When I got the locking lugnut off, I threw it farrrrr into the woods... man, was I mad!
