Type 2 PS pump

Ok, so I'm looking at upgrades when I get back to the states, and one of the ones i'd like to do is upgrade to a later model PS pump. I know people here have done it, but no matter what I search I can't find what I need to do the upgrade, I currently have a factory full serpentine setup but with the old resivour surrounded style pump, and was looking to change it to a type 2 style....is it a blot in or do I need adapters to get it fit the current brackets, also are the hoses the same, I currently habe metric hoses...just trying to get my ducks in a row for when I get back

Re: Type 2 PS pump

The mounting dimensions are completely different, as far as I know, no one makes a bolt in swap for the serpentine setup, my best guess to figuring something out would be to look at a later 4.3L S10 truck, I know that the S10's went to type 2 pumps (I'm running one out of an S10 on my 305, well it's actually a combination of S10 and 4th gen f-body) and the 4.3 basically uses a small block accessory layout.

The metric fittings are a bolt in, just find metric hoses that have the configuration that you need (I searched pics on eBay and found a full-size truck hose that worked for my application) or a good hydraulic shop can make custom but it won't look "stock." The pressure/bypass and volume all work fine for the stock steering box.

Re: Type 2 PS pump

Crap that's what I was afraid of, is the alternator on the drivers side too in the s-10 setup, if so I might be able to get away with just changing out the one side
