Cluncking noise rear end

Hi!

So, i've a small issue with my car (that i'm fully rebuilding).
When parked, if i move the car side to side, there is a clunking noise coming from the rear end.
I did go under the car and i suppose that this noise is coming from the panhard / track bar.

For info, the bar mounted on the car look like this one UMI Performance UMI-201723-B Double Adjustable Panhard Bar & Lower Control Arm Kit (Black) | 82-02 Chevy Camaro/Pontiac Firebird | SD Wheel with spherical bearing rod ends.

Re: Cluncking noise rear end

More likely it's just the axles shifting in and out of the tubes. If you have a 10-bolt rear they'll generally move 2 -3mm. Completely normal.

Hum maybe, i'll check tomorow if the vibration is located more towards the axle.
But even if that is normal, do all 3rd gen have that cluncking noise all the time???

Pretty much, yes. Ones with the 9-bolt don't. But any vehicle with a C-clip type rear axle, which means about 95% of all American rear-wheel-drive cars from the mid 60s up through today, will do that. Probably quite a few from other countries as well.
