Suspension advice replacing half torque tube with 3 link or torque arm?

Hi I have an opel gt as you can tell from my username. I'm replacing the engine with either a cruze 1.4t 250hp 240ftlbs or a saab b204 2.0t that can make 200-350 easy with similar torque. I'm going for a beefed up t5 if you are wondering.

I need to replace the half torque tube and axle with something stronger. I thought of a torque arm and axle from a Chevy monza since it's fairly close in length and track width.

I've also considered the gen 3 camaro or firebird. I know ow I'd need to narrow the axle. I don't know how long the torque arm is from the transmission.

I've been reading about a 3 link.

my main concern is the body twisting like a pretzel from double or even triple the power it came with stock. I'm also reading everything I can about which axle would be strong, the diff being close to 4.10 if I use the cruse engine or lower gear for the saab motor (still gm). I'd need it to be posi ofcoarse.

I welcome any and all ideas. I might be able to get away with a 3rd link where the torque arm is mounted in the front but at the transmission would be safer. Right?

sorry, I'm a 48 year old woman pretending to be a gearhead.
Its now stripped down to metal and ready for repaint.

Too small for a v6. Especially a small twin turbo, lol.

Re: Suspension advice replacing half torque tube with 3 link or torque arm?

I love the opel Gt and if I find a good one I do plan on building on someday.

To answer the question, the torque arm idea would work if there is room in the tunnel for it. The torque arm idea would likely be less invasive vs a 3 link due to upper arm placement.

This fourm is dedicated to the 3rd generaton GM f-body. Im sure there is a place out there for the opel GT but we are limited here as to what we can do for you with that specific chassis.
