Are Bigger sway bars worth it

I am considering larger sway bars, possibly spohn's, but what i am wondering is will they make that much of a difference? I have read a few posts that say they will not make that much difference over the stock ones. Is this true.

which ones (size) do you have right now? You can find out by getting an adjustable wrench to measure the diameter of your sway bar.

Yes, bigger sway bars are worth it. If you can find some off of an IROC or Trans Am at a jundyard (36mm), grab em if it's a decent price.

I have 1 1/4" in the front and i think 1 inch in the rear, the only bars bigger would have to be the 1le, but i dont know if it would be worth it to install just a little bit bigger sway bars. How much difference are the solids sway bars, compared to the hollow ones?

According to Shelby's Camaro Performance Handbook, "The stiffness of an anti-roll bar increases very quickly as its diameter is increased. The stiffness is a function of the diameter to the 4th power.... This means that a 1-1/4 in. bar is 2.44 times as stiff as a 1.00-bar." Remember that the 1LE bars, hollow 36 mm front and solid 24 mm rear, were put on a performance cars. So, should you be looking for performance, go for it.

wow speaking of sway bars, last week at a local junkyard I got a 36mm rear swaybar from a 90 iroc for $50. woohoo!! also got a 145 mph cluster for $50 and the dual reservior brake master cylinder setup (complete) for $75 since I just swapped to rear discs. check your local junkyards, I know there will a definate difference from my stock RS rear swaybar. Good luck!
