Springs - Which ones????????
Sorry about the length. I have read many posts and been everywhere on the net and I cannot figure out what to buy.
I'm down to Eibach springs, but which ones? The pro kit seems more popular but I want to get some more defined opinions.
First, I am looking to reduce the fender gap but my primary concern is handling? This car has less than 40K original miles on it and is driven for pleasure. The last thing I care about is a soft comfortable ride but don't want something that will be too stiff and reduce road handling ability.
I visited the Eibach site and compared the pro kit and sportlines, but I have to say I'm almost more confused. It states that the pro kit strikes the best balance between ride and handling and the Sportlines have the lowest stance and are for:
"the extreme enthusiast, who wants that "race-car" attitude, our Sportline springs are designed for maximum street performance - with the lowest possible drop."
Does this mean the best handling or the best considering the drop? Plus it states that these are a progressive design spring. My impression from other posts is that they were linear rate springs.
So which offer the best handeling, period!

I read that quote on the Eibach site as well. It sounded like bafflgab to me and sort of suggested that maybe I don't want their product. But the main reason is that I don't want progressive springs so that's Eibach out.
I'm thinking Global West because they are linear and, if I'm not mistaken, the rates they use take some of the understear out of the car.

Eibachs?
Guys, I really don't know BUT I have a '91 Camaro and a new set of the 1" lowering Hotchkis springs. I will post a set of before and after pics in about a week with an opinion on handling/practicality (front end scrapeing).

My goals were the same as yours. I researched it, decided upon the Sportlines, installed, alignment - good to go. I installed new isolators when I put the springs in. They are cheap.
It looks great, handles great, acheived my goal i.e. less gap in the wheel wells (still have over an inch) and leveled out the car since the front drop is slightly more than the rear and I always thought that these cars look like the butt is sagging a little in stock form.
As far as the web site, the sportlines are for the best handling between the two springs being talked about, not just the best handling for being lowered that far. You mentioned that you were not concerned with a soft comfortable ride. I had the WS6 springs on before the sportlines. There is a difference in ride but IMO it is not that much more harsh than the WS6. To address your other concern, they did not 'reduce' road handling ability... they increased it.
I can't speak to the other springs so I won't pretend that I know. I am please with my sportlines.
BTW, if you haven't already done so, a relatively inexpensive mod to improve responsiveness is to replace your sway bar bushings and end links with poly.
Post back and let us know what you decide and how they worked for you.
