My STB by :hail:George Lara uses the stock bolts. No drilling and fits a carbed engine with factory A/C! Last edited by Justins86bird; Apr 19, 2002 at 03:17 AM.

Just to add to this somewhat older topic... I got mine in very good condition, I too ordered it OUTSIDE of the auction and there wasn't any problem. Thing is though, I've got TBI and although it says its for TPI only it cleared my air cleaner (stock) by at least an inch! So if you've got a TBI I'd still order it... I did it for the heck of it, good deal and I lucked out big time. And as far as I can see, I have no hood clearance problems either on a stock Firebird hood.

I noticed this was an old topic but I recently got the BMR STB. I saw someont talking about welding or bolting one to the strut mounting plated. DO NOT DO THIS, they need to be able to move for your front wheel alignment. If you weld them in place you may not be able to line the front wheels up when they go out. Stick with the traditional brace whichever one that may be.

i like the Edelbrock 3 point brace that i have it really tightens up the front end and since it hooks up to the firewall it actualy got rid of some of my dash creaks
but as with the problem with the hotchicks bar.... my bar got a small nick in it and afterthat all the powdercoat started to flake off(NOT COOL)
and another thing if you have a trans am and want to put one of these in be prepared to take down your hood insolation and get out the ball peen hammer and the dremel because the bar wont fit under the stock trans am hood(not sure about regular firebird or formula hoods)with out a little tweking.
i called up Edelbrock and they told me that they were geting complantes that it was not fitting under the trans am hoods
it was designed for the camaros and the problem is that firebird hood swoops down a bit and the camaro hood stays straight
they told me to cut out or bang up the supports that the bar was hitting
i did it and it worked but i am geting a ram air fiberglass hood in a little wile and i wont have to worry
just thought firebird owners should know

I kinda started this mess way up at the top when I sent the e-bay link, but for all the skeptics and naysayers....mine is beautiful and IT WAS ONLY $20.00. For all those that got theirs.....WAY TO GO!!!! E-bay ROCKS!!!!! If you are restoring one of these 3rd gens it is a great resource unless you are like some guys on this board and think you have to spend tons of money on every little thing you buy. I also got a set of 96 prelude seats for $130.00 that I will take pictures of and let everyone flame them for being out of RICE, but they look and feel great.
