Torque converter??

Hey everyone, I was wondering what the deal is on torque converters for an auto? I have a 92 RS with headers, and 3 inch custom exhaust with 3.73 posi rear end. What kind of torque converter would I need, how much would it cost? and what kind of gains would it do to my car for acceleration?
thanks in advance for reply's. I really need help with this because I am lost!

I plan on keeping the stock cam, would I notice much difference if I do keep the stock cam, and how would my gas mileage be affected?
thanks!
