Cowl Induction Dual Snorkle?

i was thinking today, what if I turned the dual snorkle air cleaner i have around so that it was facing backwards. Now, I'd have to cut some off the snorkles, so that it would fit - but maybe I could suck some cold air in from the cowl?? How could I prevent water entry?? some sort of baffle, but maybe that would greatly hinder air flow... Has anyone tried this? Good idea/idiot idea? Anyone have anything to say about it? Thanks!

It's an interesting idea.. though you would have to modify the notches i nthe air cleaner since it wants to sit facing forward. The intake ducts do have a hold for water to drain. but if you got water pooling in the air cleaner I don't think you'd like that. but I don't think that much water would enter.

hhhrrrrrmmmmm, yeah, i didnt mention the notches, but yeah. You dont think that much water would enter?? I dunno, when i got out to my car in the rain or what ever, i see *tons* of water draining to the cowl from the windshield. Now, I have the stock hood, so I dunno if I'd get enough cowl effect to pull water in, but...

a cowl pan would be just as easy to make and much mroe effective. it isn't likely that too much water actually makes it into the engine thhough because the air intake for teh interior is at teh base of the windshield. most of the water will run into that and be channeled out onto the ground.
