Help! I've searched and searched and...

I went to adjust my idle, timing, etc,,, etc... today and when adjusting my idle the throttle linkage started to stick. You actually have to push it in by hand to where it is supposed to be, but as soon as you hit the gas and rev it and than let it go again it idles back at 2000 RPM's!!!! This is really getting annoying... I actually have to push hard on the gas to "pop" it out of where it is sticking. Has anyone heard of this before? I am going to take the TBI off tomorrow and rebuild it, do the ultimate TBI stuff and add a spacer, but I want to make sure I know what to look for in order to fix or replace.

Thanks guys,

Please help

James

If the idle screw (factory sealed but easily opened) allows the throttle plate to close too far, it will stick. Open the throttle plate a little more by turning screw and throttle will stop sticking. However the idle is set through a combination of computer settings and throttle position sensor input, Idle Air Control setting, and throttle plate position. There is a faq or article somewhere on this site that deals with this adjustment
