i purchase my 83 cfi z28 in less than a week
i plan to:
a. get manifold ported

c. get larger injectors and diff ecm
d. get new cam, lifters, timing chain
my questions are:
will the vortech heads work with the xfire manifold
who can i talk to about a custom prom chip.

The Vortec heads utilize a different intake bolt pattern. You can maybe get a machine shop to modify the intake to work with the Vortec pattern.
Learn how to do your own prom so you don't get screwed over.

lots of info here, even for the TBI - there are people on there with 400+ hp CFI cars, and even more powerful CrossRam camaros
good luck!

The Vortec heads can be drilled for the older style bolt pattern. But not just any old style bolt pattern intake manifold will work because of the different port location.
