TBI crate motor
TBI crate motor
This question isn't about my IROC, its for my truck. I was looking into getting Scoggin-Dickey's new TBI crate motor. It puts out 280 HP and 370 Torque. I was wondering if I put that motor in would I need to upgrade the TB or use the stock one. I was looking at TurboCity, which has a complete throttle body, injectors, airflow enhancer, and more. Does anyone know if these are good components or would i be better off using the Holley TBI?[URL=http://www.turbocity.com]

Stock TBI will support that hp with a little added fuel pressure. The Holley 670 TBI would be a good choice but you would need to have the intake bored to match to take full advantage of the larger bores.

I have the Turbo City Throttle Body and AFPR on my RS.
Been very happy with it, but for the money, the Holley's probably a better bet. When I bought mine, Holley was using the old style injectors that were not very tolerant of fuel pressure increases.
Holley's not using those anymore, and their throttle body flows better.
The Turbo City unit I bought needed to be milled flat on the bottom, as it came with a huge vacuum leak. It flows well and looks great, but if I had to do it again, I'd go with the Holley.
By the way, I'm running a 350 crate motor from goautocenter.com.Advertised as 300 HP TPI long block, I'm making 317 HP @4500 and 399 ft/lbs@2500 (at the flywheel) with TBI and Crane Compucam 2030 Hydraulic Roller.
