Moth *****

Ok this may sound stupid but I want to know what you guys think. My friend told me that he put moth ***** in his gas tank and he claims that it creates a higher octane for the gas and makes his engine run cleaner. He also claims that it contains almost the same ingredients as the octane boost additive. He puts it at a 6 moth ***** to 10 galons of gas. Is this true, will it actually help the car run cleaner?

Do a search. I know there was a post on this before. From what I remember from the post, don't do it.

People used to do that. I'm not too sure of the effects of it, but I do know that these were the old school big block carbed engines that would just about run off of diesel fuel. Yah i thought it was crazy but my dad witnessed it. Anyway newer cars have injection systems that may become clogged or react in a detrimental way to something untested and foreign in the fuel system. I would let someone else try it first if you want to see if it works, so it wont be YOUR engine as the test dummy. Just wait and observe what happens to your friends car, before you make your decision.

I know they are good to put under the hood to keep rodents away. Ever seen what happens to a mouse when it hits the blower motor? I had a repair order the other day for a 2002 Maxima: customer states foul smell in car. Vibration in dash with heat or A/C on. Took out the blower moter and there was a headless mouse in the fan blades, and blood through out the inside of the plastic venting. Removed the whole evaperator assembly and found 4 dead baby mice too. Keep the moth ***** out of the tank and put them under the hood.

Toluene is a better octane booster than trying to use moth *****. I like the headless mouse story though.
