L98 Cam....am I asking for problems
Alright I got a line on a L98 cam in good shape etc......am I asking for problems with the computer etc by swaping this into my L03????
Also in terms of a cam swap what else should be swapped in addition to the timing chain? Springs, Lifters??? what do you guys think?
Also anyone got the specs handy for a 91 L98 Cam???
thanks,

Dont got the specs, but your computer shouldnt bug out. Mine runs "fine" with the stock comptuer but Im not taking full advantage of the new cam. If you can get your fuel pressure dead on you'll be ok.
Id replace your springs. Your lifters, pushrods, and rockers should be a-ok.

If the springs aren't binding you should be ok, a spring replacement is a PITA.
Ever loose a valve in a cylinder?
The L98 cam shouldn't really beat on your springs too bad.
Depending on the year you either get the
88-89
207/213 0.415/0.430 117 separation
90-92
202/207 0.413/0.428 114.5 separation
Either of these cams is good for the stock heads with no replacement really necessary on the valve train, 305 5 Speed ran these cams with the same cast heads. The max lift for the springs are 0.480 on average and depending on age and quality. The LO3 peanut cam doesn't even come close to half of the abuse the springs can handle.
Peanut Cam
179/194 0.350/0.384 109 separation
And Dave, I've got plans too hehe...
