TBI Fuel Pump
TBI Fuel Pump
The Fuel Pump died in my '92 L03 Bird last friday and the only AC Delco pumps I can find are for Vin F TPI cars. Can I use a TPI pump or is there a gm part number for a TBI pump?
Thanks,

From what I understand you have to you a TBI pump. The TPI pumps, pump at a higher pressure, too high for TBI. you could alwas get an inline fuel pressure regulator to bring it down, but I dont really see that working to well.
Also the part number is EP377 for an AC Delco TBI fuel pump. Its $69.00 at Kragen

Guess what? Yes you CAN use the TPI fuel pump. The TBI fuel regulator still limits the pressure to the lower pressure used on the TBI engine. I swapped in a LT1 pump. I did it because I planned a future swap to TPI. I was swapping rear ends and wanted to swap the fuel pump at the same time, rather than having to do it twice. The extra fuel delivered by the TPI pump just pisses back to the tank via the return line. Unless you are contemplating a future TPI swap, then you'll likely save money by replacing your pump with one for a TBI. I'm just letting you know that the TPI pump is a valid option. Don't swap in a TPI pump because you think you'll get a performance gain though.

A TBI does have a regulator.
You can use that pump. It's the other way around that you don't want to do. The regulator only dictates what PSI the fuel returns to the tank. Using a high GPH pump will like the low PSI.
It's using a weak pump under a lot of load (i.e. high pressure) that will screw up the pump. And besides, it's that much more reason to get a 950 Commander later on.
