Ok I have a 91 camaro rs. I am running mostly stock except that i have flowmasters and a b and m shift kit. I have a 2 inch cowl hood so hood clearance should be fine. I have purchased some 3.23 gears with posi will this help out my 1/4 time alot? and also i want to put on a open air element, the 670 holley throttle body and the holey projection intake that goes with it ( i believe that is the intake u use correct me if im wrong thanks). WIll this help out in horse power and/or will i need a computer chip for it. I know some things about cars but i would real like some opinions on all this. What kind of heads do u think would be good for this setup that are in a 17 year olds price range. Also this is gonna sound real dumb but do u have to take apart the engine to put on a new cam or can that be done w/o taking out the engine. thanks a ton John

 

The 3.23 gears will help your 1/4 mile times some. 3.42 gears would have been better. Looking at a .3-.4 gain in qtr mile with 3.23.

You really don't need the Holley 670 TBI until you change cam and heads.

Invest in the WINALDL scantool and learn how to use it to tune and diagnose your engine.

You need to change the exhaust from the engine back. Get headers and 3" cat and 3" catback for a single cat TPI car and you will gain another .3 or .4 tenths.

Once you do the exhaust, then you can think about heads and cam. This can be done in the car but its not easy since you have to tear most of the engine apart to remove those items. World Class Torquer 2 305 heads are a good plug and play head that has a good bang for the buck ratio.

Used LT1 Z28 cams make great 305 TBI cams and help wake that TBI engine up.

Then you can add that Holley projection intake and 670 TBI.
