howcome an 88 2.8L fuel pump costs almost twice what a 305 pump costs, and could i just get an 88 305 pump and use that in the tank to feed the 2.8L ? ill keep trying searches

Well, I'm not sure why there's the price difference. But to answer you question as to whether or not it would work, I would have to say it depends. Were you looking at a 305 TPI pump, or were you looking at a 305 TBI pump. If it was the TBI pump, then it's most likey not going to work. The fuel pressure you would need to feed your multi port is too high for the TBI pump. I'm pretty sure a TPI pump would work though, because it will support the fuel pressure needed.
