Hi, new to this forum

Hi, I'm new to this forum. I have a 1973 Corvette that I did a frame off rebuild on in 2000. I installed a 1987 TBI 350 & 700r4 from a 1987 GMC van at that time. I used the wiring harness & ECM as well. The car has headers & small cam w/chambered exhaust and 4.56 gears. It runs fine and I get about 18mpg, but I was wondering if there are any simple mods I can do to the TBI. Are there different injectors, sensors, etc. ? I did increase the pressure by adding a washer under the regulator spring, but that is all I've tried.

the best place to start is in the tech articles. look at teh ultimate tbi mods and the diy afpr.
there are soem manifolds and stuff available from taht aftermarket. your best bet to clear a stock vette hood is prolly the edelbrock performer tbi or the holley street avenger tbi. i think an aftermarket manifold with an adaptor plate woiuld have serious clearnace issues if you plan to run an air cleaner.
when you swapped in teh tranny did you retain teh lock up convertor? if so you can pu tthe lock up on a switch and when you are at the track it will lock teh convertor as soon as you go into second gear. that saves a lot of the wasted energy normally associated with automoatic trannies and will give you a better trap speed.
sounds liek a cool car, keep us updated.

Thanks, I learned a lot in the last hour. Going to Radio Shack tomorrow to get parts to build a cable and load WinALDL on my laptop. Does the injector pod spacer just lift the injectors up to allow more air flow? I couldn't find a picture.

Tim,

I've always heard it is not best to shift gears while the TC is locked or will it not hurt the trany/converter?

All I can picture in my mind is how hard an auto-trans will shift with a shift kit installed and then to top it off with a converter in the locked state.... ouch... something has to give (besides the rearend breaking loose).

Thanks,
-Mike

the only time you shoudl use it is at teh track because full throttel + convertor lock up will generate extra temperature. it is not a major issue fo rht etranny, i ran my tranny for years, many hundreds of passes with teh convertor locked up. when i finally messed up my tranny it had 100k miles on it and go dknows how many strip passes, autocrosses, and a trip to a road course on it. my tranny was nothign special, just a transgo shift kit at the time.
