cam question on crate motor...
Hey guys, I plan on getting the 350 vortec from http://www.goautocenter.com/330hp_vortec.htm and I was wondering if I should go with there roller cam upgrade or just get the cam that comes with the motor and upgrade to a roller cam later....will the cam they offer beniffit me any?
Second..would the 670 TBI be the best tb for this motor or would the stalk one be fine??

taht roller upgrade looks liek a nothing cam. you'd prolly end up around teh same power level. teh stock L31 heads can handle up to .490 lift. that means that a nice extreme energy or something similar will work very very well in it. you can reuse the lifter from your stock motor as long as they still roll nice and free.

that's the cam I just took out of my engine. It works great if you want all possible low-end torque. The power died off after 4000 rpm...and that's with the cam timing at -2*.

the xtreme energy XR269HR looks like it would be fun. Youd have to upgrade your heads to the screw in instead of the pull out studs and get good aftermarket valve springs in addition to doing some machining to the heads. Id say just run with what it has untill you get tired of it and then upgrade later. That is a decent amount of cam in there already so itll delever the goods when you get it working
Yea I think I am just going to run with what i comes with for now then upgrade later....I just thought it would be better to have them put in a roller cam while it is new so I wouldn't have to deal with it after. 330 hp seems like a good amount of power for a street car...at least for a few years.
