is the superchip really super?

im thinking about buying an ADS superchip for my 305 tbi and i was wondering what everyone thinks about them? whether or not it is a good buy and is worth the $25 id pay for it? also, my tranny and motor have about 140k on 'em...would it put my motor or tranny in danger?

If your motor is bone stock then that chip would be ok. But for the money it's kind a waste. You can gain about the same amount of power by doing the free AFPR mod and bumping up your timing and running 89 octane. Thats what I did when my motor was stock and a ran a 15.9 with a stock 305 with 110,000 miles on it.

All the superchip is going to do is bump your timing up, and make you run 91 octane for no reason. Custom chips are the way to go.

Also no, it won't be hard on your motor. Only you can make it harder by rompin on it more often LOL to check the chip's power out.

I wouldn't waste your money. They have NEVER proven any actual performance gains on either the dyno or the track so why spend any money on it? Base timing and fuel pressure (like mentioned) are the best things to change until you start doing your own eproms.
I would pay exactly $4.50, what it's worth to be reprogrammed with GOOD changes. Honestly I wouldn't even pay that since I could get screwed with a one time burn chip, not even reprogrammable.

these fools on ebay...i love it when they buy something completely overpriced. that chip just ended at $56 theres no way i would pay that much for it. just on a side note there is a guy that sells new kyb shock/struts for 145 bucks plus like 20 somethin s&h. now i checked and including s&h from summit this exact same set was 141. i just get a kick out of people that think they are getting a good deal.
